Marriage affects your weight. I
cannot tell you the number of times I have seen married couples gain weight
within the first year. How the person you marry or even date affects your
eating behavior is huge. I am so blessed to have married someone with the same
values as me in regards to many things and food is definitely one of them. How
someone eats affects you drastically. Whoever the eats the poorest is in your
relationship will likely drag the other person with them. In marriage it tends
to be the husband who just eats more because he can and the wife feels like she
can too. For example, when my husband and I got married we would divide our
food in half, right down the middle, eating the same amount. Although, I must
admit it was more than I should be eating for my calorie intake. Even though,
my husband and I eat very healthy compared to the average Joe, you still only
need a limited amount of calories a day.
Now since I have realized I need to
be more careful, I serve myself smaller portions and tell myself that I do not
need more food, but if I am still hunger in an hour I can think about some
fruit or something else small. Of course if the food is good I want more, but I
do not need it. My body won’t starve if I just fed it. A lot of the battle is
mental too. Drink at least one glass of water after you eat before you consider
getting seconds.
What is your experience?
