Sprinkles and Their Free Cupcakes!

http://www.suddenlyslimmer.com/blog/?p=658

For someone who lives walking distance away from Sprinkles, you can probably relate if you like to get something for free, especially when it is food! Sprinkles gives away at least a 100 cupcakes a day at the Chicago downtown location. They give away 50 around 11 to 12pm and another 50 around 4pm. This can be torture for someone who is trying to meet his or her goal. I love getting free stuff. It doesn’t matter what it is or even if I end up giving it away after I get it. The idea of just getting something for free gives me a boast. When I am on a good day tempted by Sprinkles, I maybe will get one and then give it to a friend. But then I am in this battle of why would I be supporting someone else to not meet their goals (if they have any). So then I feel bad for wanting to do something nice. Maybe you have had a tension similar before?
I tell my husband, the fact that I don’t bake him sweets everyday is evidence that I love him. I love to bake and I know that he and I both have our own health goals, so I at least wait to go to an event to start my baking frenzy. If it is a rainy day, then I might make an exception. What do you think about giving sweeties as an act of kindness? To be honest, I think that the fact someone has thought about me is a nice feeling and even if it does make me compromise a little. Although, if I know someone has a special goal, I will modify my actions. For example, I led a small group and brought sweets, but I made sure to have some healthy options as well so I am not outing anyone. What are your thoughts on someone giving you a free treat?

  1. This is especially hard for me because cupcakes are my weakness. I am actually subscribed to Sprinkles' Facebook page and know when they are giving out free cupcakes. I fight the craving as much as possible but I allow myself to have one per month (which I had the other day) I savor it and move on.

I personally don't like to give sweets as treats because it's more of a temptation for myself. There are usually left overs and I know I will probably end up eating them. I prefer going for either a none food reward or a healthier option.
